How it works

Favorite -130, underdog +110104.1%
-130 · 56.5%+110 · 47.6%
4.1% over 100: the site's cut
The line marks 100%. Implied chance = 1 ÷ decimal odds.

Each price is turned into the win chance it implies. Added up, they come to more than 100%: that extra is the overround. Dividing each side's chance by the total spreads the cut evenly and leaves fair chances that add to 100%. The hold is 1 minus 1 divided by the total, which is the share of all money staked the site expects to keep if action is balanced.

Use the fair price from a sharp, high-volume market as a yardstick. If another site, or a social sportsbook, offers better than that fair price, the EV calculator shows what it's worth.

Questions

What is vig (or juice)?

The cut a site builds into its prices. If both sides of a game are -110, the implied chances add up to 104.76%. The extra 4.76% is the overround, and the hold (what the site keeps on balanced action) is about 4.55%.

What are no-vig or fair odds?

The prices you get after removing the cut so the chances add up to exactly 100%. This calculator uses the proportional method: each side’s implied chance divided by the total.

What is a good hold?

Lower is better for players. Two-way main lines at many sites sit around 4% to 5%. Props, parlays and futures are often far higher. Exchanges and prediction markets charge fees instead of a built-in margin.
