States that ban sweeps

A growing number of states have passed laws that ban online sweepstakes casinos with prize play. Here's every one we track, the law behind it, and when it took effect. On top of these, each casino excludes its own list of states.

Which states ban sweepstakes casinos?

As of our last check, 11 states have a law in force: Oklahoma, Louisiana, Maine, Indiana, Tennessee, California, New York, Connecticut, Montana, New Jersey, and Washington.

Can I still play Gold Coins in a state with a ban?

Some sites keep free Gold Coin play open where prize play is banned. Gold Coins have no cash value and can never be redeemed. Check each site, since many leave a banned state completely.

What happens to my Sweeps Coins if my state bans sweepstakes casinos?

Sites usually announce a last day for prize play in that state. Redeem any eligible Sweeps Coins before that date. After it, the casino's own terms decide what happens to a remaining balance.

Are other states restricted even without a ban?

Yes. Each casino also keeps its own list of excluded states, often longer than the list of state bans. Our state pages combine both.
